NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Karagan Bulger scored in the 84th minute lifting Coast Guard to a season-opening 2-1 win over UMass-Boston.

The Beacons (0-1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on a goal by Dani Anderson.

Sidney Palinkas' header in the 67th minute tied the game asAnna Carleton assisted to tie the game 1-1.

Emily Scharnitzky had four saves for Coast Guard to pick up the win in goal.

Julia Cote had four saves in goal for UMass-Boston.

Coast Guard held a 17-13 advantage in shots.

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday in a non-conference game at Salve Regina at 4:00.
