Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- Seniors John Flood and Noah Engstrom scored a goal each to lead Coast Guard men's soccer to a 2-0 season-opening victory over Rhode Island College on the road on Thursday night. The Bears opened the season 1-0, while the Anchormen fell 0-1 to start the year.
Flood netted his first goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to give the Bears a 1-0 lead in the second half.
Engstrom added another goal for the Bears off a feed from John DiTommaso in the 88th minute to give the Bears the 2-0 final.
Senior John Vaaler earned the shutout win in goal for the Bears. Coast Guard outshot Rhode Island 13-2.
The Bears are back in action on the road this Saturday, September 3 at Wentworth at 12 PM.
