Bears Sweep Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Isabelle Shroyer and Amanda Moore picked up complete game victories leading Coast Guard to a sweep of Wellesley in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader. Coast Guard won 10-4 and 6-1.

Coast Guard improves to 16-10 overall and 9-5 in the NEWMAC while Wellesley drops to 3-24 overall and 2-12 in the conference.

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Eastern Connecticut at 3:00.

GAME ONE – COAST GUARD 10, WELLESLEY 4
Coast Guard scored three in the first and took control with six runs in the seventh in the 10-4 in.

Isabelle Shroyer (6-7) went the distance to get the win allowing four earned runs walking one and striking out eight.

Lillia Farlow and Christine Carey each had two hits and drove in two runs. Julia Breidenthal, who scored three runs, Mariah Dewey and Kayla Yoshioka Montalvo also had two hits each in the game one win.

Farlow, Shroyer and Carey all had RBI singles as the Bears took a 3-0 lead in the first inning

Maggie Perez's two-run triple highlighted the six run seventh as the Bears took a 10-1 lead.

Breidenthal, Farlow and Dewey each had RBI doubles in the inning while Carey added a run scoring single.

The Blue scored three in the seventh to make the final 10-4.

GAME TWO – COAST GUARD 6, WELLESLEY 1

Amanda Moore went the distance and did not allow and earned run while scattering four hits and fanning four to improve to 10-3 on the season.

Yoshioka Montalvo gave the Bears a 1-0 lead in the first on a sacrifice fly before and infield single in the bottom of the inning tied the game 1-1.

Coast Guard got two in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Dewey and an RBI single by Carey for a 3-1 lead.

Farlow blasted her fourth homer of the season in the sixth to make it 4-1.

Yoshioka Montalvo and Shroyer added RBI singles in the seventh to close the scoring.

Carey and Yoshioka Montalvo each had two hits in the game two win.
