Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn. – Amanda Moore went the distance and Mariah Dewey was 4 for 4 in the opener before UMass Dartmouth rallied to split a doubleheader. Coast Guard won the opener 9-4 and lost the night cap 7-5.
Coast Guard saw its six-game win streak snapped and the Bears are now 11-7 while UMass Dartmouth is 19-7-1 on the season.
The Bears are back in action on Friday when they host Clark in a NEWMAC doubleheader at 3:00.
GAME ONE – COAST GUARD 9, UMASS DARTMOUTH 4
Mariah Dewey was 4 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI while Lillia Farlow homered and drove in three leading the Bears to the game one win.
Amanda Moore (7-2) went the distance and scattered eight hits and allowed just one earned run while walking two and striking out a season-high tying seven to get the win.
Farlow blasted a two-run homer to center in the first to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.
Hailey Lyons would belt a two-run shot of her own as the Corsairs scored three times in the third to tie the game 3-3.
Katie Becker's two-run single in the bottom of the third gave the Bears the lead for good 5-3.
Isabelle Shroyer and Julia Bredenthal each had two hits in the game one win for the Bears.
Dyonna Rodas, Kate Condon and Victoria Rossetti each had two hits for UMass Dartmouth in the opener.
Abby Bedient (0-2) took the loss in relief.
GAME TWO – UMASS DARTMOUTH 7, COAST GUARD 5
Jill Richards doubled, homered, drove in three runs and got the win in relief as the Corsairs salvaged the split.
Richards (10-3) allowed just one hit over the final three 1/3 innings and struck out three to get the win.
Lindsay Chubbuck hit a solo homer to left in the first for a 1-0 lead.
Dewey's RBI double in the third tied the game 1-1.
Richards hit a towering two-run homer to left to give the guests a 3-1 lead.
Natalie Beck's two-run double broke a 3-3 tie as the Bears scored four times in the fourth for a 5-3 lead.
Richards RBI double in the fifth cut the deficit to 5-4 before Lyons two-run double gave UMass Dartmouth the lead for good 6-5.
Larissa Piessen's added an RBI single to cap the four-run fifth and close the scoring.
Chubbuck, Richards and Condon each had two hits in the win.
Breidenthal had two hits for Coast Guard.
Shroyer (4-5) took the loss for the Bears.
