Bears Drop Pair in Florida

CLERMONT. Fla.-- Coast Guard softball dropped a pair of games on Wednesday afternoon at THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. The Bears fell 6-2 against Aurora in game one and 6-5 against Plymouth State.

Coast Guard is now 1-3 on the season. Julia Breidenthal had three RBIs in the two games to lead the Bears. Amanda Moore and Isabelle Shroyer split the pitching duties for the day.

The Bears wrap up the Spring Break trip tomorrow March 10 at 3:15 against Johnson & Wales and 5:15 against Bridgewater State.

GAME ONE-- Aurora 5, Coast Guard 2
Breidenthal had two RBIs to lead Coast Guard.

Aurora opened the game with a two-run homer to take a quick 2-0 lead. The Spartans extended the lead in the top of the third, taking a 3-0 advantage. They added another run in the top of the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

Breidenthal had a two-run triple to get the Bears on the board and cut the deficit 4-2.

Aurora scored once more in the seventh inning to secure the 5-2 victory for the Spartans.

GAME TWO-- Plymouth 6, Coast Guard 5
Christine Carey had two RBIs in the second game to lead Coast Guard. Breidenthal and Selena Serna both brought in one run each for the Bears.

The Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first as Breidenthal had an RBI double, and Carey had two RBIs on her single.

Plymouth State scored twice in the bottom of the first to get on the board as they trailed 4-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Panthers scored three runs to take a 5-4 lead.

Serna had an RBI double to tie the game 5-5 in the top of the fifth.

Plymouth scored one run in the sixth inning to take the 6-5 final.
