Box Score WORCESTER, Mass.-- Junior John Flood scored the lone goal of the game to lift #14 Coast Guard men's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Clark on the road in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon. The Bears remain unbeaten at 7-0-1 overall and 2-0 in NEWMAC play, while the Cougars drop to 5-3-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in the NEWMAC.
Flood scored his third game-winning goal of the season in the 12th minute with a header on the far post off a corner kick from senior Gabriel Gallant.
Clark had an 18-12 advantage in shots, including 11 shots in the first half but Coast Guard shut them down to no shots on goal. The Cougars also had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Coast Guard sophomore goalkeeper Josh Hudson (3-0) made five saves in the victory with his third shutout of the season. Clark's sophomore goalkeeper Andrew DiStefano drops 4-2-1 on the season with the loss.
The Bears, who are ranked #14 in the country and #1 in the region, are back in action on Tuesday at home against Westfield State at 7 PM in non-conference action.
