Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.—Coast Guard women's soccer fell 2-1 to Connecticut College on Wednesday evening at home in the battle for the Whale Cup. The Bears drop to 2-3 on the season while the Camels open their season 1-0.
Kat Norton scored the game-winning goal and added an assist to lead the Camels.
Connecticut got on the board first in the 10th minute when Norton sent Mya Johnson a through ball and took it right in to give the Camels an early 1-0 lead.
Hannah Boldt connected with Norton in the 60th minute as Norton tallied her first goal of the season and the game-winner for Connecticut.
Coast Guard cut the deficit 2-1 when junior Reilly Pogoloff found freshman Riley Vicinanzo in the 81st minute, for the first goal of her career.
The Camels had a 20-4 shot advantage and had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Coast Guard sophomore goalkeeper Hope Drake-Duval had six saves for the Bears, while Sarah Hall had one save for the Camels.
The Bears are back in action this Saturday at home at noon as they open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play against Wellesley.
