Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard swept a pair of matches at home to improve to 5-3 on the season.
The Bears beat UMass-Dartmouth 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-18) and Roger Williams 25-16, 25-16, 25-17.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday at archrival Merchant Marine at 6:00.

Amanda Dake had a match-high 15 kills while Sophia Galdamez hit .667 with 11 kills as the Bears hit a season best .413 and Coast Guard won 25-20, 25-13, 25-18.
Carmen Zipf led the Bears with 16 digs and three aces in the win while Noelle Tursky led the Bears with a season-high 36 assists.
Devon Laing led UMass-Dartmouth with nine kills while adding six digs. Kate Wade had a team-high eight digs.
UMass-Dartmouth would score six straight turning an 11-7 deficit into a 13-11 lead in the opening set. The score was tied 17-17 before the Bears ran off five of the next six points to take a 22-18 lead and won the opener 25-20.
Lauren Hatfield's serving would be key for the Bears in the second set. Coast Guard would score six straight with Hatfield serving to break a 7-7 tie and lead 13-7. The Bears would score the final five points again with Hatfield serving to win the second set 25-13.
In the third set, the Bears used a 5-1 spurt to open up an early 9-5 lead. The Corsairs scored four straight to make the score 12-11. Coast Guard, leading 15-14, would close out the match with a 10-4 run to win 25-18.

Sophia Galdamez had a match-high nine kills the Bears swept the Hawks 25-16, 25-16, 25-17.
Tursky led the way with 17 assists and six aces while Dake had seven kills and five aces for the Bears.
The Hawks led 9-6 before Coast Guard scored six straight and 12 of the next 14 points to take an 18-11 lead in the opener en route to winning 25-16.
Coast Guard was on fire to start the second set as the Bears scored the first seven points and led 13-1 and pushed the lead to 21-5. Roger Williams would make a run outscoring the Bears 15-3 before the Bears won the set 25-16.
The Bears jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the third and never looked back winning 25-17.
