Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Charles Fish and freshman Jude Sargent each scored a goal in their collegiate debuts as four different Coast Guard players scored leading the Bears to a season-opening 4-0 win over Rhode Island College.
Fish scored just 1:52 into the game in his collegiate debut with junior Ryan King assisting to give Coast Guard the early 1-0 lead.
Senior Mike Daunt would convert a penalty kick with 12:58 left in the opening half and Coast Guard would lead 2-0 at halftime.
RIC's best chance in the first half was when Sa-Leem Kamarah hit the cross bar with 6:30 left.
Senior Robbie Fugett opened the second half scoring by finding the back off the net off a rebound in the 54th minute to give the Bears a 3-0 lead.
Sargent closed the scoring on a header off a corner kick from Fish in the 63rd minute.
Coast Guard outshot RIC 12-2 and junior John Vaaler did not need to make a save to pick up the win.
Senior Charlie Tashijan had five saves in net for the Anchormen
The Bears are back in action on Saturday at Stevenson with kickoff set for 6:00.
