NEW LONDON, Conn. – Brooke Stock and Moira O'Reilly each fired shutouts leading top-seeded Babson to a doubleheader sweep of fourth-seeded Coast Guard in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) semifinals to win the best of three series.
The Beavers (13-1) won the opener 8-0 in six innings before a 3-0 win in the nightcap.
The Bears, who are the only team to beat the Beavers this season finish with a 6-8 record.
Coast Guard started the season 6-2, but dropped six straight to end the season. The Bears offense went cold as they scored just one run in the final six games.
GAME ONE – BABSON 8, COAST GUARD 0 (6 INNINGS)
Brooke Stoke threw a four-hitter did not walk a batter and fanned seven to improve to 8-0 on the season.
Babson got all they would need in the first won an RBI single by Jacqueline Paul and a sacrifice fly by Sam Burggraf for a 2-0 lead.
Burggraf, who was 2 for 2 with four RBI's had a two-run double in the third to push the lead to 4-0.
Isabelle Shroyer (3-6) went the distance and took the loss for the Bears.
Mariah Dewey, Christine Carey, Selena Serna and Maggie Perez all had singles for the Bears.
GAME TWO – BABSON 3, COAST GUARD 0
Freshmen Moira O'Reilly and Amanda Moore were both outstanding in game two.
O'Reilly (3-1) allowed just two singles, walked three batters and struck out ten.
Moore (3-2) allowed just three hits, a pair of homers, did not walk a batter and fanned four. Moore retired the final 14 batters she faced after a solo homer by Aubrey Labouliere in the third.
Isabel Aguilar hit a two-run homer for the Beavers in the home half of the first.
Kayla Yoshioka Montalvo worked all three walks that O'Reilly gave up.
Shroyer and Carey hit safely for the Bears.
