WORCESTER, Mass.-- WPI used six runs in two games to sweep Coast Guard softball in its final doubleheader of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season.

The Bears finished the season 6-6, while WPI improved to 6-4 with a doubleheader against Wheaton next week to finish their season.

GAME ONE - WPI 3, COAST GUARD 0
Katie Martin allowed just five hits over six innings as the Engineers won the opener 3-0.

In the bottom of the second, Jocelyn Diaz hit a triple, sending Nicole Logrecco in to get WPI on the board. Brittany Bolster singled to center sending Diaz home, taking a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Lauren Meinhold singled to left field, sending Marissa Gonzales home for their third and final run of the game.

Freshman Isabelle Shroyer drops to 3-4 on the season, throwing 63 pitches with 46 strikes.

GAME TWO - WPI 3, COAST GUARD 1
The Bears got on the board first in the top of the second. Freshman Lillia Farlow hit a single, sending classmate Julia Breidenthal in for the run.

WPI tied it up 1-1 in the bottom of the third as Gonzales stole third and scored on an error.

The Engineers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as Gabriella Cerbo got to second on a fielder's choice sending Sydney Russell in for an unearned run, taking a 2-1 lead.

WPI extended their lead with the eventual final score in the bottom of the sixth as Diaz hit a single, sending Lauren Meinhold in for the run.

Shroyer is now 3-5 on the season as Katie Martin improves to 4-1 for WPI.
