Bears Fall in Season Opener

NEW LONDON, Conn.-- Coast Guard men's soccer fell 1-0 to Rhode Island College on Friday evening in both teams season opener.

Senior Kevin Tay Munoz scored the lone goal of the match for Rhode Island on a penalty kick in the 29th minute. The Anchormen had five shots in the game. Junior goalkeeper Charlie Tashjian made one save his first shutout of the season.

Senior Gio Ottomanelli had a great chance for the Bears early in the second half as he took the ball in for a breakaway but was cut short by Tashjian.

The Bears senior goalkeeper Dakota Harich starts the year 0-1. Coast Guard held the advantage in shots with seven and corner kicks, 3-2.

Coast Guard is back in action on Friday, September 6 at 4:00 PM when they travel to MCLA.
