Bears Shutout Clark 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass.-- Claire Hurley and Brielle Pearce scored a goal each to lead Coast Guard women's soccer past Clark, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action. The Bears are now 7-9-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the NEWMAC, while Clark falls to 8-7-1 on the season and 2-5-1 in conference play.

Hurley got the Bears on the board first in the 56th minute with her seventh goal of the season with help from freshman Anna Carleton.

In the 80th minute, junior Kat Retz found Pearce to give the Bears a 2-0 lead with her sixth goal of the season.

The Bears held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks but Clark had a 12-9 advantage in shots.

Coast Guard freshman goalkeeper Sarah Schollenberger made four saves in the shutout and improves to 7-7-1 on the season. Clark goalkeeper Morgan Small made one save for the Cougars and drops to 7-6-1 on the season.

The Bears are back in action next Saturday when they return home to host Wheaton at 12:00 PM.
