Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. --- Coast Guard and Emerson played to a scoreless draw in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
The Bears snapped Emerson's four-game win streak and shutout the Lions for the just the second time this season. Coast Guard is now 6-9-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the NEWMAC while Emerson is 10-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference action.
Emerson sits in third place with three NEWMAC games left while Coast Guard is in fifth place with a pair of conference games remaining. The second, third and fourth seeds will host a first round game on Nov 5th. The top seven teams qualify for the tournament.
The game marked the fourth straight shutout for Emerson, which has not allowed a goal since Oct. 5th. Megan Rose (9-4-1) made 10 saves in goal to register her fifth shutout this season.
Sarah Schollenberger (5-7-1) had six saves in goal for the Bears to record her third shutout of the season.
Coast Guard had the two best scoring chances in the match as a shot by Anna Carleton with Rose out of position was saved by a defender in the 33rd minute and later Kylee Ballard's shot with 35 seconds left in the first half would go off the right post as the game remained scoreless.
The Bears would hold a 14-11 edge in shots and 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday at Clark in the final road game of the regular season at 1:00.
