Bears Play to 1-1 Draw With Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. --  Junior Claire Hurley's goal in the 20th minute tied the match 1-1 and that would close the scoring as the team's played to a tie in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Coast Guard is now 4-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NEWMAC while Wellesley is 3-5-1 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.

The Blue would strike first on a goal by Emily Tran in the 12th minute giving Wellesley a 1-0 lead.

Hurley would score her team leading fourth goal of the season with freshman Brielle Pearce assisting to tie the game.

The Bears dominated play outshooting the Blue 22-7, 11-4 in the second half and 7-0 in the two overtime periods.

Freshman Katharina Commins (4-4-1) made four saves in goal for the Bears.

Coast Guard is back in action on Tuesday night then the Bears host Mount Holyoke in a NEWMAC game at 7:00.
