CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  –  Sophomore Audrey Bartz had two hits and drove in three runs and classmate Julia Ferris pitched a complete game leading fifth-seeded Coast Guard to a 6-1 win over sixth-seeded Emerson in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament elimination game at MIT.

The Bears (22-12) will take on the winner of second-seeded WPI and fourth-seeded Springfield at 3:00.

Ferris (11-10) scattered eight hits, walked one and struck out three allowing one earned run to pick up the win for Coast Guard.

She got out of a one-out bases loaded jam in the top of the third before the Bears scored three times in the home half.

In the third, sophomore Carly Hattman and sophomore Claire Hurley singled before senior Emma Hvozdovich's RBI single gave the Bears a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Courtney McKenna walked to load the bases before Bartz lined a two-run double down the left field line to increase the lead to 3-0.

Micalea Dix got Emerson on the board with a sacrifice fly in the fourth, but the Lions once again left the bases loaded.

Coast Guard would add three insurance runs in the sixth on three straight RBI singles by Bartz, junior Emily Hogan and sophomore Kayla Sowers for a 6-1 lead.

Hvozdovich, McKenna, Hogan, Sowers and Hattman each had two hits as Coast Guard finished with 14 hits.

Emerson finishes the season 20-14.
