Bears Settle for NEWMAC Draw With Clark

Box Score

NEW LONDON, Conn. –  Coast Guard and Clark battled to a 1-1 tie in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Coast Guard extended its unbeaten streak to four and the Bears are now 4-5-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the NEWMAC while Clark is 8-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.

Senior Palermo-Re found the back of the net in the 53rd minute with classmate Noah Harper assisting as the Bears took a 1-0 lead.

Clark would tie the game in the 73rd minute as freshman Connor Ross finished off a rebound to tie the game 1-1.

Each team had a great opportunity in the first half as the Coast Guard senior Alex Hall blasted a shot off the right post in the 21st minutes while the Cougars best chance came on a shot from point blank range from junior Charlie Lane with a great save from junior Dakota Harich in the 23rd minute.

Clark junior Jonathan Guilherme had a great look with 2:22 left in regulation, but Harich again came up big to send the game to overtime.

Harich (3-4-2) finished with eight saves for Coast Guard while sophomore Marco White (3-1-1) had nine saves in goal for Clark.

The Cougars held a slight 18-17 edge in shots.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Williams for a non-conference game at 3:30.
