Bears Unbeaten Streak Snapped in Loss to MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coast Guard saw its school-record unbeaten streak snapped at four as the Bears fell to MIT 4-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

MIT improves to 11-2-2 overall and 6-0 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 7-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play.

Karenna Groff scored just 4:24 in to the match for the 1-0 lead. Chessa Hoekstra added a goal in the 38th minute before Jessica Sonner scored less than two minutes later for a 3-0 lead.

Amy Apostol's goal in the 51st minute closed the scoring.

MIT outshot the Bears 14-10.

Freshman Katharina Commins (7-5-1) had five saves in goal for Coast Guard.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday at Emerson in a NEWMAC game at 7:00.
