Beavers Top Bears in NEWMAC Action

BABSON PARK, Mass. –The Coast Guard women's soccer team fell to Babson 5-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Bears improve to 5-6-0 on the season and 2-3 in the conference. The Beavers improve to 4-6-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the NEWMAC.

Junior Kathryn Clark had a goal and two assists from Babson while junior Emma Dineen had a game high two goals. Sophomore Olivia West and Junior Katherine Cullen also scored for the Beavers. Sophomore Kerry Dunn finished with two assists as well.

Babson scored their first goal of the game in the 14th minute when junior Jessica Fernandes found Clark who fired it home for the early 1-0 lead.

The Beavers made it a 2-0 lead before the end of the first half when Dunn slipped a through ball to Cullen who slid her shot past junior goalkeeper Rachel Boohar for the second goal of the game.

Babson added three more in the second half to finish off their first NEWMAC win of the season.

Boohar (5-6) made three saves on eight shots on goal allowing the five scores.

Junior Maddison Gierschick (4-6-2) made two saves on two shots on goal for the shutout.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, October 10th when they host Smith. Opening kickoff is 7:00.
