Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - Sophomore Emma Hvozdovich was a combined 6-9 with two home runs and five RBI's but the Bear's dropped two games on day four in Florida falling to Clarkson 6-4 and Emmanuel 14-8.
Game 7: Clarkson (1-4) 6 Coast Guard (4-3) 4
Freshman Hayden Short was 2-3 with a two run home run and three RBI's but Coast Guard could not complete the come back as Clarkson earned their first victory of the season.
Hvozdovich was 3-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Junior Sara Cammuso and sophomore Casey Cruzpino were both 1-3.
Summer Lancette was 2-3 with two RBI's and a run scored and Sara Armstrong was 2-3 with two RBI's for the Golden Knights. Jamie Bridge was 3-4 with one RBI and Raeanna Dunn was 3-3 with two runs scored.
The Bears got on the board first as Short knocked a single to right field plating freshman Emily Hogan who was on third base and moved Hvozdovich to third. Coast Guard then ran a double steal as Short stole second and Hvozdovich stole home after Clarkson threw down to second making the score 2-0 after one.
The Golden Knights tied it in the bottom of the second at two and then took a four run lead with three in the bottom of the fourth and one in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the seventh, the Bears attempted a rally as Short stepped to the plate with Hvozdovich on first and knocked her first career home run cutting Clarkson's lead to two. The come back would however stop their as the Golden Knights forced a pop up for the final out.
Senior Sarah Sorensen (2-3) went six inning giving up six runs, all earned, on 14 hits and striking out one.
Meg Tully started the game going 3.2 allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four. Katie Pelton came in to pitch the final 3.1 earning her first win of the season giving up two runs on two hits.
Game 8: Emmanuel (6-4) 14 Coast Guard 8 (4-4)
Hvozdovich had her first career multi home run game going 3-5 with two home runs and a career high five RBI's, but the Bears could not over come an early five run deficit falling to the Saints 14-8.
Junior Cherokee Strickland was 2-5 with one RBI, while freshman Emily Hogan was 1-3 with two runs scored. Freshman Kelly Franza went 2-4 with two RBI's while classmate Hayden Short was 2-4 with one run scored.
Emmanuel was led by Susie Kieselback who was 2-5 with three RBI's, a home run and a run scored. Catherine Daviz went 2-4 with three RBI's and three runs scored and Megan Kieselback was 2-5 with two RBI's and a run scored.
The Saints took an early 6-1 lead going into the bottom of the third until Hvozdovich crushed her first home run over the left field fence making the score 6-3 as scoring Hogan.
The Bears held Emmanuel scoreless in the top of the fourth before Hvozdovich once again stepped to the plate and knocked her second home run of the game over the center field fence plating sophomore Casey Cruzpino and freshman Allyson Holfinger tying the game at six.
The Saints, however would score eight of the final 10 runs giving Emmanuel their sixth win of the season.
Senior Sarah Sorensen got her second start of the day going two innings and giving up five runs, two earned, on six hits, striking out one. Sophomore Emily Dow came into the game in relief and took her first loss of the season (1-1) going five innings, giving up nine runs, eight earned, on 14 hits and struck out one.
Jill Kilcoyne started the game for the Saints going 3.1 innings giving up six earned runs on eight hits and struck out four. M. Kieselback earned the win for Emmanuel (2-0) finishing up the final 3.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits and struck out four.
Coast Guard is back in action tomorrow, March 12th, for their final day in Florida as they take on University of New England at 1:00 and UMass Boston at 3:00.
