Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior goalkeepers Jake Sorenson and Connor Hoeckele stopped a total of seven shots in a 1-1 tie between Coast Guard and WPI in a NEWMAC men's soccer matchup Saturday at WPI.
The Bears are 8-3-2 while the Engineers are now 7-2-4. Both teams sport a 2-2-1 record in league play.
Both goals came in the first half. WPI stuck first when Anthony Vigliotta lofted the ball to the top left corner of the net in the 4th minute.
Coast Guard evened it up in the 32nd as junior Ryan Dandan found the top left corner from 25-yards out.
Sorenson climbs to 4-2-2 on the year while Hoeckele is now 4-2-4. Hoeckele leads the league in save percentage (.864) while Sorenson is tops in goals against average (.48).
In all, the Bears had the advantage in shots (12-10), including the lone attempt in the extra session, and corner kicks (8-3).
Coast Guard entertains Mass. Maritime Tuesday at 7pm in their final nonconference game of the year.
