Box Score NORTON, Mass. – Knocking in two goals in each half, the Wheaton College men's soccer team shut out Coast Guard 4-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.
With the loss the Bears fall to 5-10-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in conference action. The victory advances the Lyons to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in NEWMAC play.
Junior Matisse Baumann got things going for Wheaton as he found an open sophomore Pat O'Rourke who took a shot in the 10th minute that cleared the freshman goalkeeper William Bragaw for the first goal of the game.
The Coast Guard placed a few corner kicks near the net, but came up empty as Wheaton's defense blocked all shot attempts.
Later on in the half, sophomore Amara Sesay crossed a pass to the right side of the box to senior Kevin Gil who ripped a shot into left side of the net giving the Lyons a 2-0 lead. This was Gil's sixth goal of the season.
Wheaton wasted little time getting their third goal in the second half as senior Noah Kossoff punched through a laser of a shot into the left side of the net from about thirty yards for his eighth goal of the season in the 49th minute.
The Lyon's added their fourth goal just two minutes later as Kossoff found senior Michael Williams for the final tally of the game.
With the loss Bragaw's season record drops to 4-5-1. Bragaw made four saves on 23 shots, five on goal.
Senior Matt Dickey (5-5) made three saves on 11 shots, three on goal.
Coast Guard returns to action Tuesday, October 27th as they travel to in state rival Eastern Connecticut for a 3:00 pm kickoff.
