Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—Regionally-ranked Babson College got goals from three different players in the first half on their way to a 3-0 victory over the Coast Guard Academy in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.
With the loss, Coast Guard falls to 5-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the NEWMAC. Ranked fifth in the NSCAA New England poll, Babson stretched its unbeaten streak to five games and is now 9-2-3 overall and 3-0-3 in conference play.
Junior Marissa Endow opened the scoring with her second goal of the season in the sixth minute to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead. Senior Meghan Tyson took a feed from junior Olivia Kerester and collected her fifth marker of the year on a shot from inside the box to make it 2-0 in the 17th minute.
Freshman Jessica Fernandes added to the lead in the 39th minute as she converted a feed from classmate Jenna Blouin to give Babson a three-goal lead.
Freshman Rachel Boohar finished with eight saves for Coast Guard as he season record fell to 4-6. Boohar is fifth in the NEWMAC with 54 saves on the season.
Freshman Elizabeth Mycock started and did not have to make a save in the opening stanza to earn her eighth win of the year, while classmate Maddison Gierschick stopped two shots in the second half for Babson.
The Beavers finished with a 19-2 edge in shots and attempted all of the game's seven corner kicks.
Coast Guard returns on action on Tuesday, October 13th when they travel to Mount Holyoke for a 6:30 p.m. match.
