The Pride outshot the Bears 11-0 in the first half and 20-1 overall for the game. Springfield also had 14 shots on goal to Coast Guard's one.

Coach Susan Grant commented on the first half saying, "we had a weak first half where we came out flat, and an athletic and talented Springfield took advantage of that."

"Looking ahead we need to be sure we are ready from the start and play our game," Coach Grant added.

Senior goalkeeper Holly Moore made 10 saves in the game in a losing effort. The Bears record has fallen to 4-2-1 on the season 0-1-0 in NEWMAC conference play.

Springfield used two goalies in the win. Senior Lucy Gillet and freshman Brooke Fairman combined for zero saves and allowed one goal. The Pride's record is 4-1-1 on the year and 1-0-0 in conference play. In the latest NSCAA New England poll Springfield was fifth in the region.

The Bears return to action on Wednesday, September 24th when they host the sixth ranked team in New England, Conn. College at 7:00 pm.
