Box Score

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Olivia Struckman scored a pair of goals leading regular season champion and No. 20 MIT to a 3-0 win over Coast Guard in the final game of the regular season.

Despite the loss, Coast Guard did however secure a berth in the NEWMAC tournament as Springfield tied Wellesley to give the Bears the seventh and final seed. Coast Guard will travel to second-seeded Springfield for a first round game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

"We are excited to make the NEWMAC tournament for the second straight season, as it was a team goal which was very important to us," said Coast Guard head coach Susan Grant. It is time to step up our game and prepare for our match on Tuesday and we're looking forward to it."

The Bears drop to 8-8-2 overall while MIT finishes the regular season 14-3-2 and 9-0-1 in conference play.

Struckman scored the only goal MIT would need 7:59 into the match, the only goal of the first half.

She struck again 5:01 into the second half for a 2-0 lead before Jennifer Ibanez closed the scoring in the 69th minute.

MIT outshot the Bears 14-4 in the win. Coast Guard senior Holly Moore had four saves in the loss for Coast Guard, which went 0-3-1 in the final four games of the regular season.
