Brian Casey enters his fifth season as head coach at the Coast Guard Academy.
Casey took over the program prior to the 2021 season and in his 5 seasons in New London, the program has compiled a 85-65 record (44-28 NEWMAC). In 2025, the Bears set a program record in single season wins with 26. Under Casey’s guidance, the program has produced 15 All-NEWMAC selections, including the 2023 & 2024 conference Rookie of the Year, 2024 Conference Player of the Year, as well as nine American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and seven D3Baseball.com All-Region recognitions. In 2024, Casey and the Coast Guard Baseball staff were named the NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prior to his arrival in New London, Casey was the associate head coach, pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at William & Mary for eight years. During his time at William & Mary, Casey helped the Tribe record five 30-plus win seasons, make two NCAA Regional Final appearances and the team qualified for the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament six times. A record setting 39-win season in 2013 allowed the Green and Gold to earn its first-ever NCAA Tournament bid and win its first regional game in school history. In 2014, Casey was part of the Tribe's first-ever CAA regular season title. Casey's influence led to a total of seven W&M pitchers earning opportunities at the professional level and 10 Tribe hurlers gaining All-CAA honors.
Casey began his coaching career at his alma mater, Tufts University, where he worked with the Jumbos infielders and hitters and also served as the program's recruiting coordinator from 2007-2012. During Casey's five years as an assistant, the Jumbos made four postseason appearances, including back-to-back NESCAC titles in 2010 and 2011 and #1 seeds in the NCAA New England Regionals. Collegiately, Casey was a four-year member of Tufts' baseball team (2004-2007). A team captain in 2007, Casey earned second-team All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) honors. He also garnered second-team All-New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) accolades as a SS/P.
Casey graduated from Tufts in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. In 2010, he earned a Master's degree in Educational Studies from his alma mater. He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and serves on the ABCA All-American Committee. He is also a member of the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) and works with the executive committee to select participants for the annual NEIBA All-Star Game.
Casey comes from a family with deep roots in New England Baseball. His father, John Casey, was the head coach at Tufts University for 39 seasons and now serves as an assistant on his brother Kevin’s staff at Johnson & Wales University. Casey’s brother Brendan is the head coach at WPI (Worcester, MA) and his youngest brother, Chris, works with the Northeast Longhorns organization.
Casey currently resides in Rocky Hill, CT with his wife Kara and his children, Cullen & Quinn.
