Greg Ahnrud

Greg Ahnrud is in his 14th season as track & field assistant and 2nd as head Cross Country Coach. He directs the training for the middle/long distance and hurdle event groups. Ahnrud was also the Interim Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country for the 2018 season.

Greg served as an assistant coach for both cross country and track & field at Rhode Island College from 2009-2012 where the women's team set 18 individual records and five relay school records and the men's team set 13 individual records and eight relay school records during his time at the school.

The last two seasons, the RIC men's outdoor track team had its best finishes at the New England Championships, placing 10th in 2011 and 7th in 2012.

Ahnrud competed for the Rhode Island College cross country and track programs from 2006-08 after transferring in from Assumption College. During his time as an athlete at RIC, he served as a team captain and was a middle-distance event specialist where he earned New England Alliance Conference honors several times. During the cross country season, he was one of their top runner's at the conference and regional stages.

Coach Ahnrud holds both a USATF Level 1 and Level 2 Distance coaching certificate and also holds USTFCCCA Certifications in Sprints/Hurdles/Relays and Strength and Conditioning.

Ahnrud received his master's degree in public administration from the University of Rhode Island in 2013. He received his bachelor's degree in political science and history from Rhode Island College in 2008.
