MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — 

United States Coast Guard Academy cadet-athletes Kevyn Fish (Allison Park, Pa.), Freddy Barber (Goochland, Va.), and Julia Little (Pensacola, Fla.) have been named as some of the latest New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week ending on Sunday, September 20th.

Fish, a sophomore cross country runner, repeats as the conference's Runner of the Week following her meet-winning performance at Wesleyan University's (Conn.) Cardinal Invitational. She crossed the finish line in a personal-best 21:40.0, a whole seven seconds ahead of the runner-up. Fish's race led the Bears women's cross-country team to 3rd place, finishing just ten points behind runners-up Amherst College, while NEWMAC rivals Worcester Polytechnic Institute placed 5th with 144 points.

Barber, a sophomore on the football team, picked up his second career Special Teams Athlete of the Week nod after torching Nichols College for 194 yards in the kick return game in Saturday's win. After Nichols cut the Bears' lead down to eight late in the fourth quarter, Barber took the ensuing kick-off 92 yards to the house for what proved to be the dagger in the 49-42 shootout. The return is the sixth-longest in NCAA Division III this season. 

Little, a senior captain and goalkeeper for the women's soccer team, was earned her second career Defensive Athlete of the Week nod after helping her squad's play Wellesley College to a scoreless draw during their conference opener on Saturday. She made eight saves against the Blue to record her third clean sheet of the season, and helped preserve the Bears' 1-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology earlier in the week on Wednesday. Little currently ranks fourth in the NEWMAC with 0.80 goals against average.

Fish and the cross country program have the upcoming weekend off, but they'll return to action on Friday, October 2nd, in Pennsylvania to compete in Lehigh University's prestigious Paul Short Run. Barber and the football team (2-1) will return to Cadet Memorial Field this Saturday to face Worcester Polytechnic Institute (2-1) in both teams' NEWMAC opener, set for a 1:00 PM ET kick-off. Little and women's soccer (2-1-3) will visit Connecticut College (2-2-1) this Wednesday before suiting up again on Friday to host Babson College (2-4) at Nitchman Field, with both games slated for 7:00 PM starts.
