Jack Brunswick '22, and
Declan Rooney '25, while the women's side features the talents of
Gill Gerton '18,
Kira Wood '24, and

The Armed Forces Basketball Championships is a five-day tournament taking place from Tuesday, May 12th, to Sunday the 17th at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California. Competing teams and selected athletes represent the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy, with the Air Force squad including athletes from the Space Force while the Navy team features Coast Guard athletes. Play started in a round robin format from Tuesday through Thursday before all four teams were seeded into a championship bracket set to run on Saturday and Sunday.
Frazer and Brunswick both bring championship pedigrees to the All-Navy team, having been members of the 2020 Bears squad that won the NEWMAC Championship. Both men carved out roles as three-point specialists during their time in New London, with Frazer ranking in the top 20 in USCGA men's basketball history in career three-pointers made (19th, 95) and carer three-point percentage (13th, 38.0%) while Brunswick finished up 22nd in three-point percentage by converting at a 35.6% rate. Brunswick also brings experience in the event, having been part of last year's All-Navy team.
Rooney is one of the more accomplished players in recent program history, earning Second Team All-Conference recognition from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in 2024 and 2025. He was the 22nd player in USCGA men's basketball history to reach 1,000 points and sits in the top 15 of multiple program career leaderboards such as assists (13th, 223), steals (12th, 97), field goals made (13th, 398), three-pointers made (9th, 139) and free throw percentage (4th, 83.3%).
"All three guys are super competitive and know what it takes to win, and we're very proud to have them competing in this event" says USCGA men's basketball head coach
Kevin Jaskiewicz, who coached all three players during their time in New London. "Jason brings all of the intangibles you look for in a player and Jack can contribute in a variety of ways, and they will both make you pay if you leave either of them open from behind the arc. Declan provides great versatility on both ends of the court. He can guard a variety of positions and can score at all three levels."
The women's team adds the two of the greatest post presences in USCGA women's basketball history through Gerton and Blethen. Blethen ranks first all-time in career blocks with 156 and blocks per game at 1.53, and Gerton sits right behind her in both regards with 135 blocks and 1.03 BPG. Gerton was a Second-Team All-NEWMAC pick in 2017 after averaging 12.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.9 steals. She scored 1,000 points in New London while finishing her career in 4th all-time in rebounds (747), 9th in steals (163), and 7th in field goals made (420). Blethen scored 935 points and finished up 10th all-time in rebounds (663).
Wood was a Second Team All-NEWMAC selection as a senior in 2024. She averaged 14.9 points and 3.9 assists while leading the Bears to the NEWMAC tournament with an 19-7 overall record and 8-4 record in league games. She scored 1,084 points over three years at the Academy and was 5th all-time in three-pointers made with 198 and 7th all-time in three-point percentage at 34.3%. Her 13.6 career points per game ranks 7th on the program leaderboard. Like Brunswick, Wood is no stranger to the Armed Forces tournament as a returner from last season's All-Navy squad.
Both teams went 1-2 in pool play. The All-Navy men will head into their weekend bracket as the 4-seed, while the women will be the 3-seed of theirs. The men started the week with a 93-86 victory over Air Force, in which Rooney added nine points and three assists in 25 minutes on the court. The women's team took down the Marines, 86-62, for their lone win of the week, with Wood leading all scorers with 15 points while Blethen was good for 13 and seven rebounds.
