BOSTON, Mass. - Coast Guard tennis fell at Emerson College, 3-4, in end-of-week New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference Action (NEWMAC) yesterday. The Bears were beaten for the doubles point before splitting singles action with the Lions.
Coast Guard moves to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in-conference, while Emerson improves to 6-8 this season and 1-2 against NEWMAC adversaries. The Lions get a break from league play as guests of Bridgewater State University (1-2) on April 1st.
Emerson took the doubles point after winning two of the duos matches. Sophomore
Ben Bonetto (Bend, Oreg.) and junior captain
Brendan Love (Winchester, Va.) out-dueled the Lions' top pair, 6-4.
Bonetto later swept the top singles match-up by set scores of 6-0 and 6-3. Freshman duo
Anthony Gregoire (Hagatna, Guam) and
Konnor Eslinger (St. Charles, Mo.) earned their wins on the respective #3 and #4 courts. Gregoire took both sets at 6-4, while Eslinger won his with 6-3 and 6-1 decisions.

Coast Guard tennis begins a busy upcoming week of action with a mid-week conference tilt at #13 Babson College (11-2, 2-0 NEWMAC). The Bears look to defeat the Beavers for the first time since 2022.
