MIDDLETOWN, Conn.-- Coast Guard men's cross country finished fourth in the opening race of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Wesleyan Invitational. With the finish, the Bears also beat Merchant Marine to earn another point in the race for the Superintendents' Trophy race, Coast Guard now leads 3-0.
Amherst finished first overall with 30 points, Wesleyan was second with 56 points, New Haven was third with 99 points, the Bears were fourth with 101 points, Merchant Marine was fifth with 105 points, Connecticut College was sixth with 144, and Western Connecticut was seventh with 225.
Freshman Paul Hobbs was the top finisher for Coast Guard at 19:50.2, finishing 13th overall. Jake Thoenen followed right behind at 19:56.9. Kyle Boe was the third finisher for the Bears at 20:20.4. Kevin Hall was next for the Bears at 20:31.9. John Hanson finished in 20:38.9, and Braden Zukowski finished at 20:46.2. Eric Poe rounded out scoring for the Bears with a 20:54.4 finish.
Coast Guard is back in action next Saturday, September 17, at the UMASS Dartmouth Invitational.
